2016 Candidates for Village Trustees

Village of Mamaroneck Democrats are leading the way. But to keep us moving in the right direction, we need to support candidates with real-world experience and good sense every year. Thankfully, we have great candidates again in 2016.

Victor Tafur

VictorTafurHeadshot.jpgVictor Tafur is an environmental law professor and practitioner. Currently, Victor serves as Co-Director of the United Nations Environmental Diplomacy Program at Pace University Law School as well as part-time faculty at Bard College’s Center for Environmental Policy. Victor practices and consults on local as well as international issues. Born and raised in Colombia, Victor was educated both in Colombia and in New York — he earned master’s and doctoral degrees in Environmental Law from Pace University. After 15 years in the United States, Victor became a US Citizen in 2014. Victor and his wife Maria have lived in Mamaroneck for 12 years. During this time, their daughter Victoria, now 10, was born.

Keith Waitt

Keith_photo_looking_up_2015.jpgKeith serves as Chairman of the Village Budget Committee and a member of the Village's Industrial Area Advisory Committee. He's spent his career in financial services in both London and New York. In 2007 he left a large global banking institution to set up his own integrated learning services firm that trains the financial sector in risk management and compliance.

Keith and his family have lived in the area for 18 years. Born in Edinburgh, raised in Nigeria and educated in England, Keith provides a cross cultural perspective to living in an internationally diverse community such as the Village of Mamaroneck. His wife, Lorna works for a non-profit healthcare firm in Manhattan. His two sons, Tom and Josh, were educated through the Mamaroneck Schools system and now both work in New York City.

Leon Potok

Potok.jpgLeon Potok has long served as a financial advisor to industrial labor unions in negotiations with financially distressed employers. He served as chairman of the Village Budget Committee and served on the Mamaroneck School District Budget/Finance Committee before becoming a Trustee in 2012. Leon holds a B.A. and M.A. in economics, as well as an M.B.A from Columbia School of Business. He has lived in the Heathcote Hill neighborhood since 1998.
