On October 17, Mayor Rosenblum filed a lawsuit against the Village of Mamaroneck Clerk, the Village of Mamaroneck Board of Trustees, and the Westchester County Board of Elections, in order to block the public's ability to vote on two local referendum propositions placed on the ballot by a majority vote of the Board of Trustees at a September 6 meeting. The lawsuit was filed with the NYS Supreme Court in Westchester County, and a hearing was scheduled for Wednesday, October 26, but subsequently moved to Thursday, October 27.

The Mayor alleged that the meeting was "illegal" and that the two referendum propositions should be removed from the November ballot.
